Abstract
Interest in social entrepreneurship as a new field of scientific research, as well as in practical activity, is growing substantially. The authors understand social entrepreneurship as a set of interrelated activities aimed at solving social problems by developing the commercial activities of economic agents. In this article, in order to analyze the evolution of social entrepreneurship in the world, the interpretation of the notion "social entrepreneurship" was clarified, the specifics of social entrepreneurship development in Europe, the United States of America, Latin America, Africa and Asia, drivers for socially-oriented activities, and possible ways to develop social entrepreneurship in the Russian economy are considered. Based on comparative analysis, stages of social entrepreneurship periodization in the world dimensions are revealed and the characteristics of the main driving forces promoting the emergence and development of social entrepreneurship are presented. The authors show that the formation and development of social entrepreneurship in different countries has a heterogeneous nature. Its features depend not only on the current institutional environment, but also on the historical conditions in which this type of activity was formed. It is determined that the model of European or American social entrepreneurship is transplanted into the developing countries of Latin America and Africa through active support of international organizations and funds. At the same time, a necessary condition for the creation of socially-oriented organizations is a political and legal environment that makes it possible to create socially-oriented organizations, and sociocultural conditions and the existence of institutions that study and support social entrepreneurship are important for their successful functioning and development. The theoretical significance of this research is to systematize research on the development of social entrepreneurship in the world dimension. The practical significance consists in analyzing the experience of introducing social entrepreneurship in different countries. The obtained research results are recommended for use
